WASHINGTON -- Linda Gallion will exhibit wondrous coast line landscapes and lively subjects in soft pastels and lithographs July 12 through September 4, 2012 in the Gibbs Library gallery space. The opening reception, open to the public, will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday July 13.
“Pastels are incredibly vibrant and energizing to paint with. They are fun and messy and I have always felt more creative plein aire painting. I’m crazy about color and I enjoy replicating nature and playing with perspective,” Gallion says. She returned to art later in life by working with lithographs after her move from Kansas to Maine. She has been fortunate to have been taught, coached and mentored by Frances Hodsdon, a well admired Maine artist and print maker and teacher at Midcoast Printmaker, Inc.
Gallion was introduces to pastels by Barbara Vanderbilt, fellow pastel artist and owner of Gothic Tile. Gallion has participated in Barbara Vanderbilt’s life drawing group for the past six years. She joined the Pastel Painters of Maine and has attended several paint outs and sold a pieces in auctions, paint outs, and at the annual members shows. She was a member of Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset and has had many pieces in juried and annual shows.
