More than seventy different plants will be offered for sale at the annual Gibbs Library Garage and Plant Sale on May 22.
This year, the plant donations have been diverse and plentiful. Offerings include black cherry, plum, lilac and viburnam trees and both culinary and medicinal herbs like sweet woodruff and lemon balm.
The perennials will include more than 30 kinds of shade and sun-loving plants like astilbe, monks hood, queen of the prairie, coreopsis, poppies, hollyhocks, ajuga, sedum, phlox, and more.
Vegetable seedlings, including tomatoes, will also be on sale as well as plant pots. Everything is sold at great prices.
This event is the major fund-raising event for Gibbs Library - an all-volunteer community library. The garage, plant and book sale will be held 9 am to 2 p.m. May 22 at the Washington Fire Station, next to Gibbs Library, 40 Old Union Road, Washington. FMI: 207-845-2663.
