Benefits of Being a Member

NETWORKING

Our monthly meetings and events help to keep your business visible, allow you to connect with other business owners, and provide you with the latest information about what is going on in our community. Information from our meetings is also shared with our members via email and posted on our Facebook page to increase exposure.

MEMBER LISTING

Our website connects potential customers to you through an online Membership Listing and our Visitor Guide.

ADVERTISING

Our rack card is currently at the Route 95 rest stops and other information centers, driving people to our website and our online listings. We also put out press releases for Chamber sponsored events, such as  Christmas in the Country, and the Fall Business Conference. To spread the word on social media, we post member events on our Facebook page.  Please “like” our page and share your events with us.

ANNUAL MEMBER DINNER

Held in April, and open to all members, this dinner celebrates our membership, and our community. Awards are presented to Business of the Year, New Business of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year, and more! Click here to nominate a business.

BUSINESS AFTER HOURS

An opportunity to meet business owners in a casual setting. Public welcome. Interested in hosting? Email us for details! Past events held at The Pour Farm, The David Robbins Homestead Bed and Breakfast and Herbal Revolution Farm and Apothecary.

BULK MAILING PERMIT

All members, in good standing, may use the chamber's Bulk Mailing Permit for a fee.  This gives members access to discounted postage rates for their mailings. These mailings shall not be of a political nature, as the Union Area Chamber of Commerce strives to remain non-partisan. Please contact Ron at uagway@tidewater.net for details.

SCHOLARSHIP

The Union Area Chamber of Commerce has established a scholarship to assist a college bound student; or currently enrolled college student, that is a resident of the Chamber’s service area for a minimum of two years. Funds are raised through various community events including our Pie Social. It is one of the many ways that the UACOC gives back to the communities of Appleton, Hope, Union, Waldoboro, Warren and Washington. (Click here for application, deadline May 1, 2024)

TOURISM AFFILIATIONS

The UACOC extends our reach to tourists by being a member of the Maine’s MidCoast and Islands.  This council of Chambers directs marketing funds that are awarded annually by a Maine Office of Tourism grant to attract visitors to the MidCoast region, which includes the region from Brunswick to Searsport and inland to the Union area.  This affiliation helps to promote our local tourism businesses to a very large audience through MM&I’s Guidebook, websites, social media accounts, email accounts, and various professional public relations efforts.
